Square footage, paint, tile, flooring, fencing, gravel, roofing shingles, AC sizing, wallpaper, sod and carpet each get their own calculator, so the math matches the material instead of forcing every project through one generic square-footage box.
HomeImprovCalc is owned and operated by Chris Terry through Encore Promotional Products, part of the Encore Editorial network of free calculator and reference sites. Nobody has to register, log in, or hand over an email address to use a tool here.
Square footage is length times width, or a room split into rectangles when it is not a clean box. Paint coverage follows the roughly 350 to 400 square feet per gallon that manufacturers like Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore print on the can. Tile and flooring counts add a waste factor on top of the raw area, because cut pieces at the edge of a room are never zero. Every number here is a planning estimate. Real rooms have odd corners, real materials have dye lots and batch variation, and a subfloor or subgrade that looks flat rarely is. That is why the calculators build in a waste factor and why the guides tell you to round up rather than order to the exact number. For anything structural, permitted, or over a full pallet of material, confirm the final order with your supplier or a licensed contractor.
